If a Registration Agency (RA) chooses to implement and operate a Local Handle Service (LHS) for their DOI names (see DOI LHS Operated by a Registration Agency), the DOI technical support service provider will provide the RA with the necessary technical guidance to help them install and administer their LHS. The technical support service provider is responsible for the scalability of the system and, in consultation with the DOI Foundation, for implementing future developments leading to its growth and any improvement to its technical sophistication.
